LAMBS exists to provide a means of travel for people who are unable to use conventional public transport or who do not have access to scheduled services which run to their required destination. Using either a modern 5 seat or 15 seat, low-floor, accessible minibus (with a tail lift for wheelchair passengers or those who have difficulty using the steps), L.A.M.B.S. now offers affordable, door-to-door transport to many people who were previously excluded from everyday activities. The scheme can be used in three ways: |

L.A.M.B.S. is run by a Management Committee which consists of a volunteer representative from each of the participating parishes which constitute the scheme. These are Bildeston, Brent Eleigh, Brettenham, Chelsworth, Hitcham, Kettlebaston, Lavenham, Milden, Monks Eleigh, Preston St Mary & Thorpe Morieux, Wattisham. The Chairman of the committee, Lyn Gurling and the Treasurer, Derek Allen are also volunteers. The committee employs a part-time transport co-ordinator, a part-time Booking Clerk and one part-time paid driver. A number of willing & generous volunteer drivers, all of whom have undertaken specialist training in the use of the minibus & its equipment, make it possible to operate the scheme. L.A.M.B.S. has been funded by The Countryside Agency's "Parish Transport Grant", Suffolk County Council & Babergh District Council & has received sponsorship from Sworders Estate Agents & Harold Chrystal of Lavenham Hill Farm. The scheme was set up with the help of Suffolk ACRE & the Suffolk Rural Transport Partnership |
